Kama Sutra – The Ultimate Manual on the Art of Lovemaking

imagesSex is an artform which has been in practice since thousands of years and has even found a mention in the religious books. It seems our ancestors never had any inhibitions when it came to sex. A great testimony to this fact is the carvings in various Hindu temples in India. These carvings depict all sorts of sexual positions and postures, as explained in the holy book of sex - Kama Sutra. Each one of these sexual positions or postures depict different ways of achieving divine enlightenment and pleasure.

All in all, the holy book of Kama Sutra spans over various chapters, organised into  different parts. Each one of these parts have been penned by experts in their respective fields. During ancient times, these manuals were normally handed over to girls after they approached puberty, in order to prepare them mentally and physically for an enjoyable and fulfilling sexual life. Every posture explained in Kama Sutra was given a specific name like – splitting bamboo, conjunction of Sun and Moon, position of a monkey, a cow, an elephant, a crab, a horse, a tortoise, a tiger and a dog.

The  book features as many as 100 different sexual positions! Aren’t you amazed to know that you can make love in those many different ways?! Many of these sexual positions differ so slightly from each other that you may wonder if they really do make a significant difference. Then, there are others which are so complex that you may not be very comfortable practicing them. On the other hand, some of the positions require a very flexible body and can only be enjoyed by athletes.

You can enjoy sexual intercourse while bending down, standing up or sitting down. The most regular and commonly explained sexual positions are the ones which have both partners facing each other. These postures help in providing the male with easy entrance, besides facilitating caressing and kissing. But, they somehow restrict active participation from the women. Most of these positions are variations of the conventional missionary sexual position.

A great disadvantage of these above-mentioned sexual positions is that they don’t work very well for women in case their partners are heavyweight. Furthermore, they don’t allow deep penetration of the penile shaft, unless the woman pushes a cushion underneath her bottom, or brings her leg up over her partner’s shoulders.

The primary aim of all sexual positions talked about in Kama Sutra are: – Improvement in the chances of conception. – Enhancement of sexual potency, performance, stamina and libido. – Increment in overall sexual pleasure received while making out. After all, variety always helps. No one would want to repeat the same old conventional sexual postures over and over again, making them dull and mechanical over a period of time. – To enhance strength and physical fitness of couples, thereby enabling them to live longer. – Prevention of injuries or hygiene related problems.

There are certain sexual positions which improve the ejaculation and help in ejaculating in the interior parts of vagina, thereby helping the sperm cells to reach far inside the uterus. Other sexual positions instruct women how to practice certain postures to ensure deposition of semen into the immediate cervix neighbourhood, even sometime after the orgasm, to improve chances of conception.
