Choosing a vibrator that is right for you + a comparison chart of top sellers

range of vibrators

Often we get asked for what vibrator we recommend, or how to effectively choose a vibrator. It’s a complex question, and not easily answered as it can come down to style, colour, functions and price. We hope to address this question, provide some examples, and also some comparisons on the top sellers within each range for you.

While there are many, many kinds of vibrators to choose from, in many categories, before we can really work out what kind of vibrator is best suited for an individual we need to work out what kind of stimulation works best for the customer.

During conversations with our customers, when asking for advice on a vibrator, and trying to match a vibrator to a person, we typically ask what works for them currently. So, maybe you like g-spot stimulation or maybe clitoral stimulation, or maybe you like both. There are vibrators to suit all 3 choices.

So, the best way to break down a vibrator range, and match it to a customer is to answer this generic question.

Question: Do you prefer g-spot (internal stimulation), clitoral (external stimulation) or maybe a bit of both?

If you prefer clitoral then it goes without saying you will probably want a clitoral vibrator, if you prefer g-spot then you will want an g-spot or internal kind of vibrator, and lastly, if you like both, then a rabbit kind of dual vibrator is going to be best for you.

Of course there are thousands of different kinds of vibrators within each of these ranges, but for the purpose of this article, we have chosen 10 vibrators from each of the 3 main categories to compare. Let’s step through some characteristics of the different toys to give a better idea of exactly they look like, and then we can get stuck into a comparison of them all, and you can choose which vibrator will best suit your requirements.

The picture above shows some of vibrators we tested

Clitoral Vibrators

Typically a clitoral vibrator will be smaller, lighter and have a rounded nodule end, like these ones. Lelo Lily, Smart Wand but can also have unusual styles, to tickle and stimulate the clitoris.

G-Spot Vibrators

Normally a gspot vibrator is shaped long and thin, like a penis and is designed to fit easily into the vagina, to stimulate the internal gspot. Examples, https://www.sextoys247.net.au/waterproof-power-stud-rod-purple.html and Mona 2.

Dual Stimulation Vibrators (great all-rounders)

These ones both stimulate the clitoris and the gspot, and come in many different styles, like the rabbit vibrator, https://www.sextoys247.net.au/eclipse-ultra-7-1050.html and also, like, https://www.sextoys247.net.au/butterfly-bunny-kiss.html.

Now that we have identified the 3 main types of stimulation, and the 3 general kinds of vibrators, we can now launch into a comparison of the top 10 in each category.

Adore Elegance By Swan Dual Rechargeable, is always a bonus. Nice and powerful, with good quality materials used. It feels nice to touch, and luxurious. Offers plenty of vibrations through the shaft and the rabbit ears extension. The kind of vibrator I’d buy for my wife! – looks great, works great and will last years. Powerful, elegant, and it feels great. The whole range from Swan feels great to touch. It’s rechargeable, which is a real bonus, and not only that it is quiet, and the motor provides plenty of vibration. I’d own one of these in a heart-beat. Slightly more expensive than the Royal Swan, the Adore is exceptional. It has everything, and more. If you’re looking for best in class rabbit/dual stimulation vibrator, then the Adore by Swan is nothing short of perfection. Buy it, you won’t regret it. 9
Lelo Smart Wand - available in 3 colours Clitoral The sensor touch vibration is unreal. It adjusts the vibration based upon how hard you are pressing against the skin. Press lightly and the vibration is light and small. Press harder, and the vibration adjusts to deeper, more throbbing vibration. This is a great leap forward in technology and smarts. Love it. This vibrator has only been around for about 3-4 months, and this was the first chance I had to touch and feel one. I have to say for clitoral stimulation this is the pinnacle of vibrators. It adjusts vibrating automatically when pressing it to the body - genius. This is the next vibrator I will be buying. I agree with the other 2 – this is a great vibrator. I’m going to buy one. It’s just great. Easy to handle, control and the vibration is easy and natural. It just feels good. I loved the automatic vibration control, adjusting to the body pressure. I gave it 9.25/10. Nothing much better than this! 9
Lelo Ina 2 - available in 3 colours Dual More expensive end of dual/rabbit vibrator. Offers 12 month warranty, exceptional build and quality in its manufacturing. LELO simply make some of the best vibrators in the World. Powerful vibrations, and control is easy. Will last, and offers good value for money. I have one of these myself, and wanted it included in the list. It’s stylish, functional and one of the best you can buy. I highly recommend this vibrator. Exceptional packaging, style and design. Beyond just the looks this vibrator has excellent motors, and power, and delivers across the board on all types and modes of vibration. Designed to be excellent, and it is. 8.75
Swan 6 - The Royal Swan Dual For the top end price this has lots of features, and is one of the most powerful vibrators we tested, including the mains powered Medisil. One of the most interesting, and high end vibrators in the whole range we tested. The Royal Swan, is excellent, powerful, functional, feels great, looks great, and is great to use. You would be hard pressed to go past this one. I rate this one quite highly, I gave it a 9/10. I wouldn’t hesitate in owning this one. Great power, tons of functions, and best of all it feels exquisite to the touch. I bought one for a girlfriend recently, for her 40th birthday – she loved it (and by all accounts is still loving it!). 8.75
Intensity by Jopen Dual By all accounts this is complex vibrator. It slightly inflates to accommodate the inside of the vagina, then little (don’t let me put you off) electric pulses stimulate the kegel muscles and inside of the vagina. It also vibrators and tickles the clitoris. 90% of this one is internal, for stimulating the g-spot. Very unique, powerful and good reports from users. Designed by doctors to help women improve their kegel muscles this is an unbelievable device. Has to be tried. It’s odd looking, but one of the best vibrators in the World. It sends small electric pulses through the conduction plates, and it tickles at first, but once you get into it, then it really works. Excellent feedback on this one. My customers report great things about the Intensity by Jopen. It does seem like an odd looking vibrator, and not priced cheaply, but this is designed by doctors, to improve those important kegel muscles. 8.75
We-Vibe 4 - available in 3 colours Dual This vibrator is very unique, and while not for everyone, it is great. It is designed to be worn during sex, and it does fit – trust me, you have to try it. For me, it required using the hand to place more pressure on the clitoral stimulator, to give my partner the extra buzz it offers. One of the most revolutionary toys of the last 5 years. When the We-Vibe version 1 was released it was a phenomenon. The latest, version 3, is rechargeable, with docking station, and is much more powerful. Worn during sex – yes, my partner and I have tried it, and it is great. Enhances sex. It really does. Takes a bit of getting used to, but excellent toy for solo play, or couples. I’ve recommended this one to my friends – adds some interesting spice to the bedroom. 8.5
Jimmy Jane Form 6 Waterproof - available in 2 colours G-Spot So under-rated. The Jimmy Jane series offers great value for money. I’d recommend these ones for anyone who likes G-Spot or even P-Spot massaging. Great power, great feel, and good functions. Couldn’t find fault with this one. It’s well-made, nice style, colour and has good vibrations and function modes. Great gift as the box is lovely too. This is a very stylish and pretty vibrator. The perfect gift for a girlfriend – I’d love to get one of these as a gift. Powerful, and stylish. Has to be among the best in this category. 8.25
Lelo Tiani 2 (Design Edition) - available in 3 colours Dual It looks a bit like the We-Vibe, but it has 1 advantage, 2 motors – one in each end. Unique, powerful and rechargeable. Probably choose the We-Vibe over the Tiani 2, but it’s a close call as this is nicer design, and the packaging is great. I prefer the Tiani 2 over the We-Vibe 3. It has nicer styling, but is just as, if not more, powerful. Great design, nice colour on it and a soft plush feel. A really lush feel to the coating on this vibrator. It’s class all over this one. This is one the more stylish and interesting vibrators that we tested. Good power, but compact. 8
iVibe Rabbit Waterproof - available in 3 colours Dual The original rabbit, from iVibe, shown on Sex & The City TV show. It’s good, it’s a dual vibrator, which means more clitoral stimulation than most of the cheaper end of rabbit vibrators. Offers plenty of functions in vibration, and rotation/movement. Good value for the money. This is a great all round vibrator. Would make a great present or a gift. It has plenty of power for most people, vibrators in both the shaft and the rabbit, which means more vibrations on the clitoris – which most of the lower priced rabbit vibrators suffer from. I’d recommend this one to most who want a rabbit. A top choice for those who want a rabbit vibrator. Nice power, dual motor, and plenty of functions to stimulate the g-spot with the movements of the shaft rotation/flex. 8
Lelo Alia - available in 3 colours Clitoral This is a wonderful vibrator, with good power and the finish on it is up to the normal LELO standards of excellence. Highly recommended. I already own once of these. I bought it because it was the new breed of vibrator from LELO, with updated motors and stylish as well. The functional side of things makes this vibrator excellent. I wasn’t so sure about the style of this one, it seems a bit odd, with a hole in the middle. Having said that, once I got a hold of this one, it was great, and sat nicely in the hand, easy and comfortable. Is a powerful vibrator, and has easy to use functions. 8
Sqweel 2 - available in 2 colours Clitoral A very unique looking vibrator – although its hard to call it a vibrator, as it rotates the tongues, and is designed to simulate the licking motion, less than vibrating. Excellent for something different, and we get great feedback on this toy. Awesome! There is nothing like this on the market. For girls who like to be licked, then this is the toy for you. If nothing it warms you up for other kinds of vibrators, g-spot or clitoral. Recommended. Have to agree with Ann – this is a great toy. Unique and offers plenty of pleasure with those rotating tongues. Once you get passed the odd looking device and try it for the first, or second, or 100th time, you’ll be hooked! 7.75
Sinfive Sue Silicone - available in 2 colours Clitoral Rechargeable by USB, elegant vibrator which I found sat nicely in the hand. Nice to travel with this one, as it is inconspicuous. Comfortable to hold, and use. Surprising how powerful it is. I think is a well made and functional toy, which can be used a clitoral or body massager. This is a great vibrator, with neat and stylish design. Fits the palm nicely, and has plenty of functions to use. 7.75
Lelo Mona 2 - available in 3 colours G-Spot Cannot recommend this one enough, as it has plenty of power, and several different modes. I gave it 8.25. Had one of these in the past and while it was and is a great vibrator, it wasn’t quite suited to what I like. It’s a g-spot. The lesson you can take from this is buy a vibrator suited to what you like. It’s best features are power, and many functions. You cannot go past the Lelo Mona. It’s great, and has recently Lelo released the version 2. I love this vibrator, I’ve given one of these to a girlfriend in the past – no complaints. 7.75
Alise G-Spot The name might sound like a LELO but its actually made by New Sensations Novelites. A quality feeling vibrator, with enough power to get you going and plenty of functions. The 7 different vibration settings provide plenty of variability and make for fun and interesting times when combined with the different modes. I hadn’t heard of this vibrator before, but I have to say it is very worthwhile, and I recommend it. Powerful and neat vibrator with a nice curved design. Fits neatly in the palm of the hand, and also is easy to hold when reversed and held in position you would use on yourself. Buttons are in intuitive places, and easy to use. 7.75
Medisil Massager - has several attachments Clitoral Another version of the Hitachi Wand, but this one is 7-speed and cordless/rechargeable. Not quite as powerful as the Medisil, but it offers plenty of power, and is probably easier to handle. Much easier to handle than the Medisil, and is powerful, but not as powerful. I’d say this is more suited to single hand use in the bedroom than Medisil. Versatile massager, with 7-speeds of vibration. I like this one, easy to handle, reasonably light weight, and gives plenty of punch to the vibrating dome at the end. Also has a few different attachments = great versatility. 7.5
Spirit By Leaf Clitoral Again, another toy with a unique design, but it fits well in the hand, and once you push the power button it is powerful, easy to use and nice to touch. I liked how it sat in the hand, even when reversed – the position you would have if applying pressure to yourself. Its design is not for everyone, but I found this to be a great hand-held, portable and rechargeable vibrator. It doesn’t look like a vibrator, so can be easily taken overseas and travelled with. It’s a body massager/clitoral vibrator. Unique style, colour and sits nicely in the hand. I was dubious, then held one. Feels nice to the touch, and sites well in the hand. Easy to control and position, and offers a fair to good amount of power. Love the vibrant colour and pictures just don’t do this one justice for how well made, and functional it actually is. Recommended. 7.5
Medisil Magic Touch - has a few attachments Clitoral Based upon the Hitachi Magic Wand, this is also mains powered and offers lots of vibration, but only has 2 speeds. We get massage therapists who buy this vibrator, as it gives tons of buzz, and won’t ever run out, as its corded power to the mains. Easily the most powerful vibrator in all tested. Recommend for those who need more buzz! A bit cumbersome, as its not small in size, and is also corded to the mains. Personally I prefer rechargeable vibrators, but if you are a person who needs more power and buzz to get off, then this is the to for you. Excellent vibrations, but only 2 speed. Only has a 1.5m cord. A bit too big to handle and control for me to enjoy handling it while in bed. I can see it has a market for people who need more power and vibrations to achieve orgasm though – definitely one to consider if this is you. Also, worthwhile if you enjoy massages. Also, the extra attachments add to this one make it great! 7.25
Picobong Zizo Rabbit - available in 3 colours G-Spot A good vibrator, with a low price point, made by LELO under an alternate brand. Not as powerful as their bigger sisters, but Picobong is a fun and good range. I’d say this one is great power, and plenty of functions. Made by LELO, this is the cheaper range of vibrators. Made with exceptional quality and build and has good features and enough vibrations to work for most. The Picobong range, are more fun and vibrant than the Lelo range. Designed to target younger audience, the Picobong vibrators have style, colour and plenty of vibrating settings. 7.25
Dorcel Joy Pad G-Spot The name makes this one sound like a games console, but is actually a nice curved vibrator, which is designed to be held in one hand, and allow the user to roll the vibrator into a perfect g-spot position. Vibrator is powerful, and offers from nice vibration settings. A very funky looking design make the Dorcel Joypad quite intriguing to the eye. The 90 degree curved design, are supposed to help target the g-spot more easily – I can see that it would help. The motor and vibrator are strong, but not the strongest. Still this is a good g-spot vibrator, and I would recommend to my customers. The design is interesting, but not something that instantly appeals to me. I though it a odd shape. I had the chance to use one of these, and it was great. I wasn’t sure the vibration was right for me, but in use, I found out that it was spot on. Easy to use, manoeuvre and position and also the vibrations were adequate and delivered to the tip of the vibrator. 7.25
Touche Conqueror - available in 2 colours G-Spot The first thing you notice is the vibrant colour. Once in hand, the material is nice and firm without being plastic or hard. It’s got some give in it. I like this vibrator. Has a rotation base to turn the power on, and through its speed/function levels. A touch pricey, but has good functions and keeping it simple in design probably means it will last longer. I like the shape, and the colour is wonderful. The ribs near the bottom and the curved design make it quite unique. The motor is quite strong, and delivers to the shaft, and most importantly through to the tip, after all we’re looking at g-spot vibrators. Has good power in the motor, and the design and colours are interesting. Very vibrant and catching on the eye. The twist base controls the vibration settings, and are pretty easy to turn and control – we had no issues in doing this. I’d recommend this vibrator for mid-priced buyers, looking for some simple style, and good value for money. 7.25
Fetish Fantasy Elite - Vibrating 8 in. Dildo Red Rippled G-Spot The 2nd dildo style vibrator that we reviewed. Remote (corded) vibrator with various speed and mode settings, and the 8 inch dildo with suction cup to hold the vibrator in place. This is the perfect toy for those who enjoy using a vibrator in the shower. Allows easy suction to the tiles or wall, and the remote is easy to use. This vibrator is excellent water/shower toy. Its waterproof with a corded remote control to set the vibrations just how you like them. Powerful enough, and has various modes. Not generally my cup of tea, as it seems a bit masculine, but once we started testing this toy it became quite apparent that it has a nice texture, and the ripples and ribs on the shaft of the vibrator add to the feel. The vibrator itself is powerful, and strong and the remote means it can be controlled without fumbling for the buttons on the actual vibrator itself. This is a must consider if you like shower/bath play. 7.25
Butterfly Kiss - available in silicone/non-silicone + 3 colours Dual Unique styling, and the good thing about this vibrator is that the girl can grind up on the flat part of the vibrator, offering more clitoral stimulation than the rabbit vibrators do. Cheaper end price point, reasonably powerful, and quite compact. Not Earth shattering in its power, but provides some nice pulsing and while the form is fixed, this means you can press it against your skin harder than usual silicone coated rabbit vibrators. I personally like this one. Compact, easy to use, and delivers. It’s good for travel, and is neat. Has average to good vibrations, but requires batteries. 7
Body & Soul Remote 2 Clitoral Wireless, cordless, remote control dual bullet. The LED display offers precise control of the 2 bullet vibrators. This little vibrator has some great features, and backs it all up with some nice and powerful vibrations from the bullets. It’s not going to bring the house down with vibrations but for most this will be more than powerful enough. I loved this toy. Wireless control meant I could give the remote to my partner, and while we didn’t use it later in the night, it certainly got me well and truly in the mood. I’d recommend this one, as it has good features, and offers good value for money. I liked this one also. The wireless and LED screen won me over. The vibrator was okay to good, for the size it was great. I wouldn’t expect this to be for everyone as it is a small bullet motors being used, to keep the size and weight down, but it was great fun. 7
Ecilpse Ultra 7 Rabbitronic Dual A classic rabbit vibrator, with a lower end price point. Like the Ringed Pulsating, not exceptional, not designed to last a life time, but is functional and should last a while. Is quite powerful, easy to operate, with many different functions, and to be honest this offers a great entry-level vibrator. This vibrator offers most stimulation to the g-spot, rather than the clitoris. Not the most expensive vibrator on the market, in fact you’d say this was a budget priced vibrator. Made in China(like most vibrators), by Seven Creations – they specialise in making reasonable/good quality vibrators for the price minded consumer. Nice movement in the shaft and vibrations get a 7/10. I’m a fan of the Seven Creations vibrators, and this one is no exception. It provides the price sensitive buyer with a good option. I gave it a 6.5/10. The covering feels quite nice, and soft against the skin. 6.75
Ringed Pulsating Rabbit Dual On the cheaper end of the pricing scale, but this vibrator is very popular, and offers power for the dollar spent. It won’t last a life time, but it’s a good workable vibrator with clitoral and g-spot – although more so for g-spot than clitoral. Although this is a low price vibrator it has a lot going for it. Good vibrations, good power, and plenty of functions to stimulate. I would recommend for price conscious buyers. Doesn’t cost the earth, but has a nice style, and colour to it. Comes in nice packaging and has a dual motor – 1 in the shaft and 1 in the bunny. Good value for money in the budget end of the market. 6.5
Micro-Wireless Venus Butterfly - available in 2 colours Clitoral The only strapon clitoral vibrator that we reviewed. These are interesting and unique kind of vibrator, designed to fit under or over panties, and vibrate only on the clitoris. They provide great tiny vibrations focussed on the clitoris and vagina lips. Don’t expect this one to last for hours and hours though, as it’s small and light. Not overly powerful, but those micro-buzz vibrations are great if you’re turned on by smaller vibrations. It won’t offer the punch and power of a Medisil, or a LELO, but these are not designed to be heavy duty – they are small, intermittent use. The lower end of the price scale, but good value for money. Personally I need a bit more power than these offer, but I have to say it did get me into the mood. If I were to draw an analogy, this would be entre, for the main course being something more substantial, and able to offer more functions and buzz. Has its place, and is comfortable to wear, and put on. Has to be tried for those who like clitoral stimulation. 6.5
Key - Pyxis Finger Massager - available in 3 colours Clitoral For what it is – a small, finger massager its great. Has a neat on/off button, and nice and powerful vibrations. Its not going to compete with the bigger and more expensive g-spot vibrators, but its value for money on the clitoral vibrators. Fits comfortably over any 2 fingers, and when pressed against skin, it has some nice buzz power. I’m sure that for many this would be a great warm up/foreplay vibrator. We found it quite tingling to touch, and pleasant. This is a new one, that we recently got into our shop. I was surprised by this one, as it fits neatly over 2 fingers, and is light-weight, and yet still offers great vibration settings. It is a neat and nice vibrator for massaging. 6.5
Metal Worx - 10 Function G-Spot All metal vibrator designed to stimulate the g-spot. This is the only metal vibrator that we reviewed – the cold metal would feel refreshing against the vagina, and the vibrator has a good quality motor. It won’t set the World on fire with its power, but it’s a good medium priced vibrator made from metal. I wasn’t a huge fan of this vibrator, but I can see its appeal. Cold, refreshing, and easy to clean, and keep clean. Won’t break, or shatter. Easy to use vibrator functions and is a little bit different. Maybe for the inner metal rock chick? I quite liked this one, for its cold stimulating feel on the skin. The vibrator was okay, but not great. Still I think it would be a fun addition to any bedside top drawer. 6.5
Lia Magic Wand - available in 2 colours G-Spot An excellent low cost g-spot vibrator for anyone who likes semi-thin and versatile vibrator. It has good features, and offers good vibrations. Not the most powerful, but a good quality gspot vibrator. It’s not going to be the most powerful vibrator you’ve ever used, but it is well priced, and offers good value for money in that price range. Good feel on the shaft, and a good motor make this one a consider at the cheaper end of the market. Personally I try to stay away from the cheaper end of the market, and rarely make recommendations below the $70 mark, this one might be an exception. Its well made, good motor, and seems like it has good features for the price. 6.25
10 Function PureSkin Stud - available in 2 colours G-Spot One of the only dildo vibrators that we reviewed in this article. While not the most expensive, or most amount of functions the one thing that makes this toy stand out from the crowd is the dildo styling, and that it looks like and feels like a penis with veins and ripples. I wouldn’t recommend this one to my customers as a first off, but if price is a driving factor then it must be considered. Has a nice feel on the shaft, but the vibrator is only okay. Probably one of the cheapest toys that we reviewed, and while it has a nice shaft the motor on the vibrator is okay, and not the greatest. Still for the price, you have to consider it! 6

Suggestions:

Like anything in life, it generally comes down to money. Our website has various sections in it’s vibrator range, allowing you to browse by type, but also price. If you are price dependent, then sort by price, or filter by price.

It’s important to point out that general you get what you pay for – meaning, normally the higher priced vibrators are going to be more powerful, and also last longer. You will also normally get more functions, and more features for your money. I wouldn’t expect a $30 to last 10 years, but I would expect a top end LELO vibrator to last that long.

So, answer the above question, on what works for you, then have a read through our reviews above, and suggestions. Then browse our range to find the kind of toy that appeals to you. We give you all the tools and help to make the right decisions for you, or your partner.

Other things to consider:-

  • Do you want a re-chargeable toy or a battery operated one?
  • Do you want a waterproof toy? If it’s waterproof then you can take it into the shower or the bath.
  • Do you want to buy separate toys to achieve different effects? – maybe you want a clitoral and a g-spot vibrator. This might be more powerful, and versatile!

Enjoy, and shop well !
